📱 *Important Update on Our School’s Cell Phone Policy* 📱 Dear North Mercer Parents and Guardians, We hope this message finds you well. As part of our ongoing commitment to creating the best possible learning environment for our students, we are implementing a new cell phone policy effective today. Under this new policy, students will be required to place their cell phones in a designated area at the start of each class. Additionally, cell phones will not be permitted in the hallways or during lunch periods. The same will go for earbuds and headphones. As always, teachers may play music in their classrooms if they wish to. If a student does not place their cell phones in the designated safe area in the classroom and the cell phone is seen or heard it will be confiscated by the teacher and taken to the office. It will remain in the office for the remainder of the day and a parent or guardian will need to come to the office to pick it up. This decision was not made lightly. After careful consideration and review of educational research, we have concluded that excessive cell phone use can significantly hinder students’ ability to concentrate and fully engage in their education. Here are a few key reasons for the update: 1. **Enhancing Focus**: Class time will be dedicated entirely to learning activities, free from the interruptions and distractions that often come with cell phones. 2. **Fostering Social Interaction**: Lunch and break times will be opportunities for students to interact with one another face to face, building stronger interpersonal skills and friendships. 3. **Supporting Mental Well-being**: Reducing screen time helps decrease digital stress and anxiety among students, providing them with more time to relax and engage in physical activities. 4. **Promoting Educational Equity**: This policy ensures that all students, regardless of their access to technology, will have the same learning opportunities. We understand this change may require some adjustments, and we appreciate your support as we strive to improve the educational experience for all our students. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Together, we can make a positive impact on our students’ academic success and overall well-being. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Warm regards, North Mercer R-III Administration Team

🍎🌟 Let's celebrate North Mercer Teacher Appreciation Week in style! 🌟🍎 APRIL 29-MAY 3 As we approach Teacher Appreciation Week, let's not forget to honor not only our incredible teachers but also our dedicated support staff who work tirelessly to ensure our school runs smoothly. Looking for gift ideas to show your appreciation? Here are some thoughtful suggestions: **Personalized Thank You Cards** A heartfelt note goes a long way in expressing gratitude. Encourage students and parents to write personalized messages of appreciation for their teachers and support staff. **Gift Cards** Whether it's for a coffee shop, bookstore, or local restaurant, a gift card allows teachers and support staff to treat themselves and enjoy a well-deserved break. **Help stock classrooms with essential supplies like pens, markers, notebooks, and tissues. Teachers and support staff often dip into their own pockets to purchase these items, so this gesture will be greatly appreciated. **Treat teachers and support staff to a day of relaxation with a spa gift certificate or wellness package. They deserve some pampering for all their hard work! Remember, the most meaningful gifts often come from the heart. Take the time to acknowledge and thank your teachers and support staff for their dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to education. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! 📚🎉 #TeacherAppreciationWeek #ThankATeacher #SupportStaffHeroes #CardinalNation

📝✨ This week in first grade, we've been busy bees 🐝 diving into the art of "How-To" papers! Our little authors put their writing skills to the test by explaining a very important culinary technique: how to make a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich! 🥜🍇🥪 Not only did they write their instructions, but they also got to bring their words to life by making their very own PB&J sandwiches in class. It was a delicious way to connect the dots between following directions and enjoying the fruits (or should we say, sandwiches) of their labor! 🍞✨ We’re so proud of our first graders for tackling both writing and culinary skills with such enthusiasm! #FirstGradeFun #LearningIsDelicious #CardinalNation
